Free Download: Korg Volca Beats Sample Pack

Back to News

We recorded every sound from the Korg Volca Beats back in 2014 and used them in our own productions for years. Now they're free — 34 raw analog drum machine samples, no processing, no signup.

We've been sitting on this one for a while. Back in 2014, we recorded every sound out of the Korg Volca Beats — every kick, snare, hat, tom, conga, crash, and percussion hit — straight to a DAW, no processing, no reverb, no compression. Raw analog drum machine samples from one of the best bits of affordable hardware ever made.

We used them in our own productions for years. Now they're yours, for free.

What's in the Pack

34 WAV samples covering the full Volca Beats sound palette:

  • Kicks — 808 kick, 808 kick short, pitch up variations (×2)
  • Snares & Claps — Snare, Clap, Clap 5, Clap Delay, Clav
  • Hats — Hat, Hat Short, Closed Hat, Open Hat, Open Hat Short, Open Hatt
  • Toms — Hi Tom, Hi Tom 2, Med Tom, Low Tom, Low Tom 2, Low Tom Short
  • Percussion — Conga, Conga 2, Agogo, Agogo Low, Bell Donk, Church Bell, Tink, Click
  • Cymbals — Crash Long, Crash Real, Crash Res, Crash Short

Everything is unprocessed. The Volca Beats has a distinctive analog character — slightly lo-fi, punchy, with that particular 808-style kick that sits perfectly in a mix without needing a lot of work. These samples sound like hardware because they are hardware.

"No samples from a plugin, no emulations. We plugged the Volca in, hit record, and captured every sound it makes. That's it."

Why Free?

The Korg Volca Beats retails for around $150 new — accessible, but not free. A lot of producers working in the underground don't have a physical unit, and sample packs of Volca sounds tend to be either overpriced or buried in a bundle of stuff you don't want.

We recorded these for our own use years ago and they've been sitting in a folder ever since. Sharing them costs us nothing, and if they end up in a track that gets played at a party somewhere, that's exactly what we want.

How to Use Them

Drop the WAVs into any sampler, drum machine plugin, or DAW. They're recorded at 44.1kHz/24-bit, so they'll slot into any modern workflow without conversion. The kicks are particularly useful for techno and electro — the 808 pitch variations give you flexibility for tuning the kick to your track's key.

For the percussive elements (agogo, bell donk, tink, click), try running them through a bit of reverb and pitch-shifting them down — they work surprisingly well as synthetic percussion at lower octaves.
